Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has solicited for the support of well-meaning individuals and corporate bodies towards the development of the education sector in the state.
He made the call in Ibadan on Monday at the inauguration of the Multi-million naira Adebayo Akande Hall of residence built under the Public Private Partnership arrangement with the University of Ibadan, Ibadan.
Reiterating the commitment of his administration towards the smooth take off of the Technical University, Ibadan, he called for the support of prominent Oyo indigenes towards the realisation of the government’s plans for the university.
He said, “Our administration is determined to leave a legacy of qualitative education in the state. Education is the only way to empower the people in order to achieve meaningful development.
“Also, our administration has committed a lot of funds towards mechanised farming to make it more comfortable for farmers in the state. The government has also procured 320 tractors for our farmers to improve their farming activities and enhance food production,” the governor said.
Ajimobi commended Akande for the initiative.
